Additional information

Molten Metal Splash Impact Tester for Welding Protective Clothing

The RT-2543 melts, guides and drops molten metal at a controlled angle onto your fabric specimen, then counts the drops needed to raise the sensor temperature by 40 °C — a clear, repeatable index of molten-metal protection, tested to ISO 9150:1988, GB/T 17599-1998 and GB 8965.2-2009.

Overview

The RT-2543 Small Splashes of Molten Metal Tester measures how well protective clothing fabrics and composite materials withstand the impact of molten metal droplets — the key protection requirement for welding suits and molten-metal splash PPE.

An oxy-acetylene torch melts a metal test rod into droplets. The droplets are collected by a conical guide chute and directed at a 45° angle onto a vertically mounted specimen, while a precision sensor behind the fabric records the temperature rise in real time. The number of drops required to raise the sensor temperature by 40 °C defines the fabric’s protective level — the higher the drop count, the stronger the protection.

Built for welding clothing manufacturers, fabric mills, testing laboratories, certification bodies and research institutions, the RT-2543 delivers repeatable, standard-compliant results you can rely on for QC and product certification.

How It Works

1. Melt — an oxy-acetylene welding torch (nozzle Ø1.2 ±0.1 mm) melts the metal rod; mass flow controllers keep oxygen and acetylene supply stable (1-20 L/min, ±0.5 L/min).
2. Guide — molten drops fall through the high-temperature anti-stick chute, set at 45° to the vertical, onto the fabric specimen held at 175 g ±0.5 g pre-tension.
3. Measure — a sheathed platinum-resistance sensor (Ø0.5 mm, 0.01 K resolution) behind the specimen logs the temperature rise; the operator records the number of drops until a 40 °C rise is reached. Curves are shown live on the touch screen and saved automatically.

Key Features

1. Multi-standard: GB 8965.2-2009 (welding clothing, Cl. 6.5), GB/T 17599-1998, ISO 9150:1988; principle consistent with EN 348.
2. Fully automatic gas & feeding control: touch-screen-set rod feed speed; mass-flow-controlled gas; repeatable test conditions every run.
3. Precision sensing: sheathed Pt sensor Ø0.5 mm, resolution 0.01 K, accuracy ±0.5 K, mounted in a refractory block with 0.5 ±0.2 mm protrusion per standard.
4. Standardized mechanics: 45° anti-stick guide chute, Ø8 ±0.2 mm pass-through; weighted copper-hammer holder with 175 g ±0.5 g pre-tension.
5. Smart control: touch screen + PLC with dedicated software; real-time temperature-rise curve; automatic data logging.
6. Safe by design: explosion-proof solenoid valves and check valves; full protective enclosure with ventilation / fume hood.

FAQ

Q1: What exactly does this tester measure?
It measures the number of molten metal drops needed to raise the temperature of the sensor behind the fabric specimen by 40 °C. This drop count is the index of the fabric’s resistance to molten metal splash.

Q2: Which fabrics can be tested?
Single-layer and composite fabrics used in welding protective clothing and other molten-metal splash protection garments, per the scope of ISO 9150 / GB/T 17599.

Q3: What gases and utilities do I need to install?
AC 220 V 50 Hz power (1000 W), plus oxygen and acetylene supplies (1-20 L/min controllable range). The machine regulates gas flow automatically via built-in mass flow controllers. Gas cylinders are customer-supplied.

Q4: How is the result recorded?
Temperature-rise data is recorded automatically by the software with live curve display; the operator records the molten drop count during the run, following the standard procedure.

Q5: Do you support export markets (EU/ISO)?
Yes. The test principle matches EN 348 and ISO 9150:1988, widely referenced for welding PPE in EU and international markets. Contact us with your target standard for configuration advice.

Q6: What is the lead time?
[Please confirm with factory — e.g. 15-25 working days] depending on configuration and order quantity.
